  When I started looking for real estate on Vancouver Island, I didn’t have any contacts, so I was flying blind. My daughter mentioned that one of her teaching co- workers had just bought a place in Nanaimo, and was really impressed with her agent, Peter Kent. So I gave Peter a call. He seemed very professional and personable over the phone, and after a couple of calls and discussions about what we were looking for, I decided that he was a good match for us.

Buying a house in summer of 2021 is not for the faint of heart. I think it was the toughest buying market I have ever seen or heard of.  To successfully navigate it, and end up with a purchase at the end of the day, is no mean feat. It takes an agent that is knowledgeable and level headed…..and really optimistic!  As much as real estate skills, it requires an agent who is able to relate to the frustrations of being out bid, beaten by bully bids, and is able to keep your spirits and optimism up. 

One of the problems with a market like this is that you end up looking at a lot of houses, and as listings are in such short supply, you often want to look at places that are sort of “hail mary” options. Peter was always willing to take us out and look at places, even if privately he knew they likely were not going to be good fits.  Because we were looking at places all over the map, from Cobble Hill to Qualicum, we had him driving all over the Island. Whenever we wanted to see anything, he was always ready and willing to go the extra mile.  I would, without reservation, recommend Peter's services to anyone looking for a house on the central Island.
